Powercoders: A Bridge to New Opportunities in the IT Industry
Last year, our collaboration with Powercoders began.

English edition — originally published in German as Powercoders: Eine Brücke zu neuen Möglichkeiten in der IT-Branche.
Last year, our collaboration began with Powercoders, an inspiring organization that offers refugees a life-changing opportunity through IT education and practical work experience. This program, offered in Zurich, Lausanne, and Turin, aims to pave the way into the IT industry for talented individuals from challenging backgrounds. Christian Hirsig, the founder of Powercoders, describes the organization's mission as an initiative that not only imparts technical skills but also opens up professional perspectives.
Success Stories from Our Team
Thanks to Powercoders, we were able to welcome two outstanding developers to our team: Murtaza from Afghanistan and Mohammad from Syria. Both have shared their personal experiences with the program, which transformed them from beginners into qualified IT professionals. In an intensive three-month course, they learned the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, supported by the Swiss government and other sponsors.
The Path to Deep Impact
The "Career Day" is a key element of the program, where participants and companies meet in a speed-dating format. Based on these initial encounters and further feedback, Powercoders carefully orchestrates the matching of participants and companies. For Murtaza and Mohammad, this path led to Deep Impact, where they had the opportunity to further develop their careers and gain valuable professional experience.
A Mission Our CTO Shares
Our CTO, Sam, whose own story is shaped by the challenges people in developing countries face in education, sees working with Powercoders as an opportunity to make a contribution. For him, finding talent with potential is more important than an immediately available, specific skillset. This philosophy motivated Deep Impact to participate in the Powercoders program.
The First Steps at Deep Impact
Murtaza and Mohammad found their first weeks with us to be enriching and educational. From team demos to flexible role design, they appreciated the open and supportive culture at Deep Impact. Their monthly meetings with the Powercoders class continue to provide them with a platform for exchange and jointly overcoming challenges.
A Look into the Future
We are proud to have Murtaza and Mohammad on our team and look forward to continued collaboration. Their stories are testament to the transformative potential of programs like Powercoders and the importance of support and opportunities to enable talented individuals from all walks of life to access the IT industry.
